Section of 36th Street South to close, I-29 traffic shifting to outside lanes starting August 26

FARGO, N.D. – Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 26, Interstate 29 traffic in both directions will move to the outside lanes, and a portion of 36th Street South will close to traffic for bridge work over Rose Coulee as part of the bridge rehabilitation project.

A signed detour route will be in place, and access to businesses will be maintained. The closure is expected to last up to 30 days.

I-29 remains reduced to one lane in each direction between 52nd Avenue South and 32nd Avenue South, with a 45 mph speed limit through the work zone.

The project is expected to be complete in early October.

This work is part of a bridge rehabilitation project on I-29 at 40th Avenue South, I-29/Rose Coulee, and 36th Street/Rose Coulee. Work includes deck overlays, approach slab replacement, concrete repairs, and deck/barrier sealing.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to pay attention and be aware of traffic conditions.
